Kala Cotton:
Kala cotton is one of the most honest, fuss-free fabrics you can wear. This indigenous variety grows naturally in the dry fields of Kutch. It doesn't need pesticides, irrigation, or much intervention. All it asks for is a bit of rain and time.
Once the kala cotton is harvested from the fields, the journey from fibre to fabric begins. The cotton is first cleaned and spun into yarn, often by hand or using traditional charkhas. The yarn is then dyed using natural colours made from plants, & other eco-friendly sources. After dyeing, the threads are carefully set up on wooden looms in rural homes.
Weaving is done slowly using age-old techniques passed down through generations. If you’re someone who values comfort, sustainability, and a genuine connection to the people who make your clothes, kala cotton is a beautiful choice.
