Copper bell craft:

The Luhar family is one of the few families who has managed to preserve the craft of copper bells. The tradition of crafting these bells has been passed down from generations. The entire family participates in the making process, women applies the mud coating to the bells and men performs the technical tasks of shaping the bells and setting their sound.

In the earlier times, an artisan started making these Handcrafted colourful copper bells to identify their cattles. These bells now are used for decor and as gifting option. A truly wonderful way to bring back our heritage and sustain it.

The bells are meticulously crafted from an iron sheet, often derived from metal scrap bought from the local market. The bell-clapper is carved from a log of indigenous khirad wood. Metal powder, composed of copper and zinc, is used in the rubbing process, along with raw cotton, clay, and a metal compass. Each material undergoes a series of steps including cutting, folding, joining, priming, polishing, and baking, facilitated by tools such as cutters, holders, hammers, and kilns. Additionally, the craftsmanship involved in creating each bell ensures that no two bell sounds are exactly alike, adding to their exclusivity.
